Mini Word Game 5 — Answers and Winner

Dear Ethel

I’m writing to tell you about something that (happen) yesterday. I (get) up at the usual time – about 10am – (have) a shower and (make) breakfast. I (eat) a big bowl of cereal and some toast and (watch) TV for a while. Then I (go) into the kitchen where I (hear) a funny noise. I (think) it (come) from behind the cooker. I (get) my tool box and (move) the cooker out of the way.

The noise (get) louder but I couldn’t see anything. I (ring) my uncle to ask his advice. He (say) that he (think) it could be a gas leak. When I (hear) this I just (panic)! I (put) the phone down, (run) outside, (get) in my car and (drive) to the local police station. I (tell) them about my gas leak but the constable (lose) his patience with me. He (say) that I should have (phone) the gas company. He (write) his report, then (ring) the gas company for me.

Then I (remember) that my house doesn’t have gas – only electricity! I (feel) really stupid and (know) that the constable would be angry with me for wasting his time, so I (run) out of the police station while he (is) still on the phone. I (go) home to try to find out what the noise (is). On the way I (buy) a newspaper and I (read) about an (escape) llama that (break) out of the city safari park last Wednesday.

When I (get) home I (put) my key in the door, (turn) it, (go) inside and straight away (hear) that funny noise again. I (hold) my breath and (open) the door slowly. Guess what? I (find) the llama hiding in my cupboard! I (let) him stay and he (sleep) in my garden last night. The snoring (is) so loud! This morning I (take) him back to the safari park. They (are) really (please) to see him again and (give) me a reward of £50!

I got my tool box and moved the cooker out of the way.

The noise got louder but I couldn’t see anything. I rang my uncle to ask his advice. He said that he thought it could be a gas leak. When I heard this I just panicked! I put the phone down, ran outside, got in my car and drove to the local police station. I told them about my gas leak but the constable lost his patience with me. He said that I should have phoned the gas company. He wrote his report, then rang the gas company for me.
